I downloaded Don Starr's win97 software and it appears that the base can be programmed for the 800Mhz band on the Pro-97. I will ask Don this question directly. If you can program the base, then the refarming is not an issue.

While radioreference and yahoogroups are useful sources, there is always misinformation on the net. Don works with GRE directly, and his opinion is what I trust.

Some people get annoyed when I ask how they know something. Don't take it personally, it's just my nature.
