Google Earth

With Google Earth, it's very informative to turn on the various layers to the left of the screen. "Earthquakes" for example. and "Keyhole Community BBS" pinpoint information that will show you which areas were nuclear testing.

Someone took and compiled an exhaustive listing of all the testing done there and assembled a .kmz file that you can download and overlay that shows you all of the test sites in order by year. Search the Keyhole Community BBS for "USA Nukes" to find the thread and get the download. That one's worth keeping.

There's also an overlay map of the area that you can download and change transparency, so you don't get lost while you're looking around. Search for "Nevada Test Site Map:" (note the colon) on the BBS. This too has proved to be extremely helpful. It's all too easy with GE to wander into Utah without being aware of it (did that).

Google Earth, in coordination with this site, gives you the best of both worlds. There, the best Satellite shots, and here, the best honest information and ground photos
While this site has over the years provided excellent Sat photos, now we have them in high resolution and color, and the ability to pan, tilt, and zoom to our heart's content. The measuring tool is no slouch, either.

My hat's off to the guys here for all their hard work over the years.

You will note if you turn on "Terrain" layer that that area (19) is very rugged. If you look close and follow the roads, you will see many facilities in this area, follow the roads.

No hidden airfield yet, but I'm still looking..
