I watched a night exercise at the Keno airstrip that had two blacked out C130s. However, they had IR lights on them, easily seen with night vision. I did a post later related to this using information from a c130 pilot I met. To rehash the conversation, the C130 has both top and bottom IR lights that can be solid or flashing. In training, the top light is usually left on to alert other aircraft. [The C130s I saw were on the deck.]

The photograph is the control module for the lights. I tracked it down to Veridian Engineering, now part of General Dynamics.
