The sources are web based, one a private site, and the other a news editorial which I have lost the URL for, so who knows? But they do site some historical precedents that Democrat regimes under threat have done this previously (SR-71 by Johnson in 1964, acknowledgement of the existence of Stealth by Carter in 1977). My feeling is that they would probably only reveal something that had matured to the point where it was (almost) ready for full operational service anyway, rather than something that was still 'deep black' and not ready for release.
