There have been line crossings since 9/11, I know of at least one earlier this year. The question of how often the line is breached occurred to me, so I recently spoke with the Justice of the Peace who deals with the line crossers, and she said that there usually are about 5 or 6 line crossings per year. The fine with administrative costs is nearly $700 for a first time offender. I haven't ever heard of a second time offender, but the law allows a $5,000 fine and/or a one year incarceration, and my guess is that both would be imposed at the maximum! In the case of second time offenders, a regular Judge would replace the Justice of the Peace in the proceedings.
