The Jaguar is a fine aircraft but was greatly underpowered, even with the engine upgrade in the GR3. A lot of Jaguar pilots were not a big fan of it really as it had a tendency to bite if you wasn't aware.

As for Typhoon having no cannon in UK service, they have reconsidered now and have actually fitted the 27mm cannon, however with no firing mechanism so you still can't fire it. This decision was made as to not use concrete ballast, and use the actual weight of the gun instead.

We all know too well, fast jets need a cannon, it's been proved in history not to rely on missiles alone and every pilot flying mud-movers here in the UK practice strafing as much as they do bombing (Torn GR4, Jaguar and Harrier). Pity the bean counters can't see this for the Typhoon... (!)
