Of course the Jaguar is a wonderful combat aircraft, but like the Phantom, Lightning, Sea Harrier & numerous other types, it seems to have "outlived it's usefulness"! The bean-counters claim these older aircraft cost too much to operate - several hours of maintenance for every hour flown, while newer types are 'self-diagnostic' & their engines, circuit boards & other systems are MUCH easier to reach/repair/replace...

If we're honest, the Jag really is a relic of the late 1960's - and will be 'replaced' by the allegedly 'multi-role' Typhoon in RAF service (except for 'strafing' - 'cos the bean-counters have removed the RAF Typhoon's cannon!)

We just have to be thankful that we've been around to enjoy these wonderful planes - our grandchildren might only have UAV's to watch & photograph!!!
