I haven't seen the trailer, but the design in the movie is most likely based off the patent filed by Northrop Grumman for a variable geometry forward swept wing aircraft. Here are some links from Desert Secrets website of the patent drawings.

As for the movie variant, it suffers from the "almost" cool effect for me. Parts of it look very cool and "possible" aerodynamically. However, other parts of the design are just pure hollywood/industrial design to provide "visual" interest but would just add a hell of alot of drag in real life.

Of course, that doesn't mean I won't see the movie. I will see it at the movies if it has a story that isn't remotely predictable or propogandistic. I will see it on DVD just for the plane/Special effects, regardless of whether or not the movie sucks. Of course, Jessica Biel is in it, so it should be worth watching just for her. ;)
