Any idea what equipment he used for the shot? I would estimate he would have to be using around 800mm equivalent focal length and even then, do some serious cropping.

For those who have shot from the LVB to the runway at Nellis, the distance is also about 0.6 miles. You don't see many photographs from that distance that look so good.
