To get to Carnegie Hall, you need to practice practice practice. I suggest that to shoot the base from Tikaboo, you should try photographing the TTR from one of the eastern viewpoints, say Brainwash. It is twice as close and the hike is 1/10th the effort. You will see Janets for sure. I've seen C17 and C130s on the ground (snore), and B1bs in the air. I've twice photographed Soviet MAZ543 scud launches on the ground. I think there is more moisture in the air at the TTR, so the visibility, while better than that of Groom Lake from Tikaboo, is quite a challenge. I'm not sure of the present road conditions there, but I'm sure by March it could be reached. You could always view the base from Mt. Diablo, but it is a funny angle.
