Me 109 is a conventional piston engine aircraft

What you might be thinkg about was the Me 262 the jet aircraft.
The USAAF went to great lenghts to get their hand on those, and the scientists that developed it
Several were located in Germany at the onclusion of the war, and inspected in place, disassembeled, and shipped home.
As were the engineers {who were not disassembeled}.
