More than you ever wanted to know about the Joshua tree

Given the recent discussion about things being off topic, I hope I don't get dissed for this post.

While doing some lunch time surfing regarding Palmdale, I came across this link regarding the Joshua tree, which hopefully you know are the trees you see around area 51 (or at least Groom Road on the way to the front gate).

If you want the cliff notes version of the article, the interesting facts are:
1) The tree was named by the Mormons, who thought it resembled Joshua raising his arms to the heavens. [And who is to say these little trees are not lifting their arms to the great UFO in the sky, the mothership?!]
2) The trees can be very old. A really large one is about a thousand years old, and a moderate one a few hundred years old.
