One thing to remember is that the Chinese government that is in power has killed more people than Hitler and Stalin put together and they are still committed to the supreamacy of China over the west - OVER THE LONG RUN. Whatever they are doing needs to watched with that in mind - they focus on the strategic goals and discount the short term reversals like The Korean war and Tienammen Square. Also know that every news release, every public showing or admission is designed to have a specific effect. There is no free press, no free speech, and the Chinese Government has no problem using military force on it's own, unarmed citizens, so what it would do to their sworn enemies in the west is pretty clear.

This may be OT, but discussion of China's capabilities and technology development without a reminder that China is one of the few nations of the earth that could eventually put it self in a Superpower status with a goal of complete domination, is unwise. Watching China develop with the hope that they will be benign if they achieve their success is the path they will hope the West will take. They are counting on our indifference and lack of response. It could work.
