military air log periodic antenna

This is the antenna I use to snoop on the base from the power line overlook. It's a log periodic antenna cut for military air. Note that the antenna is directional, so it is more suited for condition where you know the direction of the emitters. If you lived in Vegas and wanted to scan the ranges, this is your antenna of choice.

What isn't exactly clear in the photograph is that the antenna is designed for use in the field, i.e. you get a plastic case that fits the antenna. Some of the elements are extendable. There is a twist to lock mechanism.

This is the same price I paid about two years ago, though I will admit I got one recently at the local fleamarket for $20. [Missing the case unfortunately, but still worked.]

Like most military antennas, you will need a N connector. N to BNC adapters are sold at ham shops.
