If you research out the story, it was very similar to a weather balloon. One of six tied together if I remember right. The project was classified TOP SECRET back then. Thus it was treated TOP SECRET back then for that reason when they recovered the balloon. If I further remember right, I think the balloons were being used as an aerial platform for imagery sensors, to be used over the Soviet Union. I can't remember the name of the project but if you do some further research, you will find the Aliens at Roswell were just made up by the media and civilians because the military wouldn't tell them anything about the TOP SECRET project that was being tested and part of it crashed on private land. Naturally some business'es in Roswell want to keep the story alive because it brings in money annually or they would end up just another town on the map. This is very old news.
