GPS units Which unit is best for me??

There are so many GPS units made by a few companies, it gets confusing. "Model Shock" sets in and you say to yourself "forget it!!". Can we just narrow it down to the Garmin eTrex family and discuss which one is better than the other, with accessories, by personal experience, research or word of mouth?? Nobody wants to make a financial mistake and I'm sure they are all good but which one should a person purchase? If someone is definately particular about Magellan then I guess it's ok to mention it. Point is, I wanted one on my last trip to Rachel (03-07Sep04) but was afraid I'm buying the wrong one and said "forget it". Now I guess I'm asking advise for me and anyone else interested in this thread. I prefer NO links, NO lengthy technical specifications if possible, just plain English please.
