Tonapah has had a airfield near it somewhere, longer than Area51 has been in existance. During WWII gunnery and bombing training was carried out from both Nellis and Tonapah. Was it an Aux. field with no facilities?? or did it have facilities, I do not know, but the need to train was so great, they used both areas.
