Edwards AFB air show canceled

The 2004 Edwards AFB open house and airshow has been canceled.

Maj. Gen. Doug Pearson announced that he canceled the show because there is "a global war on terrorism, and all of our military resources and efforts must go towards supporting that cause."

So why is Nellis AFB having a big air show?

Pearson said that the "important work we do here at Edwards in flight test affects the warfighter on a daily basis, and to that end, we must focus our energy accordingly during this important period in our nation's history."

I'm reasonably sure those guys at Nellis occasionally support the warfighter, as well.

Pearson stated that the cancellation "is not related to organizational command changes within the Air Force Flight Test Center nor is it related to any specific terrorist threat."

There are still plans in place for an air show at Edwards in 2005.
