It has been rumored for some time that a tunnel exists under Fort Lewis (30 mi S. of Seattle)and extends to the city of Enumclaw (nearly 45 miles away) and beyond the Cascade mountains towards Yakima, where the army has a large live fire trainig center. Also, on a road that skirts the north end of McChord AFB, just about 1000 off the end of the runway, there has been cunstruction for nearly 6 years straight. It seems that countless trucks make deliveries to the site, but nothing ever comes out. The last time they had the road torn up, just a few months ago, they had huge drilling machines that went straight down, and no one would say why they were drilling. Has anyone heard of this? And does anyone know what, if anything, could be under McChord? Just another tidbit of info, McChord has recently seen allot of interesting traffic: C-40s, several F-22s have visited recently, and the Boeing 757 and 767 prototypes, each of which have been heavily modified for military testing.
