Gary,
Interesting and probably true. I still can't get excited about an orbiting platform that is there to be - an orbiting platform. If we were going to use it to assemble a vehicle to take a crew to Mars, I'd want to spend away. Even though the first ISS commander, Bill Shepard is a SEAL, and it's the only manned Space program we have going (excepting the Shuttle), I'd like to have a national commitment to explore beyond our planet similar to Kennedy's 1961 challenge. I really don't know how the ISS will give us any expansion of knowlege about the universe, but it would be a cool place for a MTV episode of ROAD RULES, or SURVIVOR - OUTER SPACE. "I'm sorry you have been voted out of orbit by the others, the tribe has spoken."
