I've only seen the runway lights from Tikaboo once, and it was during the week. Chuck says the lights are on for the early morning Janet flights during the week, but they are not at full brightness. When I saw the test during the week, there was no question the lights were on. Also, the base seems to be less bright, either due to it looking dimmer next to the blue lights, or they are cutting off lights at the base to make it harder to see the outline of the plane under test. I've slept in a tent at various spots near the ET highway. Other than bats, rabbits, lizards, and cows, I don't see much wildlife. Mountain lions are always a possibility, as well as snakes. THus far, I had no encounter with those kinds of animals in the high desert. You can camp out at the power line overlook if you don't mind the wind.
