A Global Hawk will be flying nonstop from Edwards to RAAF Base Edinburgh near Adelaide in South Australia next month as part of a month-long deployment. It will participate in several joint US-Australian exercises during its deployment, and will also be evaluated by Australian defence scientists as a possible future solution to surveillance of the vast sparsely populated northern Australian coastline. Look to Beale AFB near Sacramento CA as also being a possible basing solution for the Global Hawk, as there is talk of the GH and U-2 working closely in high altitude recon role, and it would therefore make sense to base them together.
