I really wouldn't do Hawkeye Hill to view the front gate guard shack without a guide. Assuming you are there during the flag, go to Coyote Summit and ask someone to do Hawkeye Hill. There is usually dead time between sessions, so it won't take much arm twisting, especially if you drive. Expect the cammo dudes to try to open your car door once you leave the front gate parking area.
