Well, there are several road sensors along the way. You are also in view of a camera on Freedom Ridge as you approach.

On that particular occasion I parked about 50 ft. from the roadblock, then walk to the signs, took some photos in full view of another camera, and then walked back to my truck. I sat inside for maybe 10 or 15 minutes taking notes, when the chopper arrived from the direction of the base.

This leads me to believe that the canyon area just outside the roadblock is, or was, a blind spot to their cameras.
