Gary Schultz' detainment incident inside Restricted Area in 1990

Gary Schultz came on in the Chat this afternoon as a special guest. Unfortunately, his computer was having some problems and ,unfortunately, he had to come in and go out and come in several times.......and, towards the end, he couldn't connect again.
Anyway, apologies for this inconvenience.
However, Gary Schultz told me to tell everyone that he enjoyed the short Chat.

Here is the gist of Gary Schultz' incident which took place in the summer of 1990.
Gary Schultz and his friend, Jerry Hiers went past through the signs on Groom Lake Road.
At that time, the signs (on both side of the Groom Lake Road) simply said: You are entering a military zone, etc. but nowhere in the sign said: No Tresspassing Beyond This Point.
So, Gary and Hiers continued to drive on.....and began to see the Guard Shack. When they came just about 100 feet in front of the Guard Shack, suddenly two "Wackenhut thugs" (I am using Gary's expression), came dashing towards the car and stopped on a dime right in front of Gary's car, creating a dust storm.
They were both wearing cammouflage uniforms and immediately came out, one pointing an M-16 upward.
The other one was a smaller fellow, also carrying an M-16. They told Gary and Hiers to get out of the car immediately.
They immediately contacted Lincoln County Sheriff Dept., and it took about 40 minutes for the Sheriff Deputies to arrive on the scene.
Then they talked to the Groom Lake base.
Then back again they conferred with Lincoln County Sheriff Deputies. The process took about 3 hours.....
According to Gary, the "thugs" demanded Gary's film.
Again they talked to the Groom Lake base.
This went on and on for about 3 hours.
Finally, after they took Gary's film.....they released Gary and Hiers....and Lilncoln County Sheriff Deputies "escorted" them out to Groom Lake Rd. eastbound.
One interesting thing mentioned by one of the cammouflaged man was when he mentioned to Gary that his wife worked at K-Mart.
Anyway...I will have Gary explain more in detail next time.
Gary and Hiers were not fined at all.
But that was in 1990.
