The similarity of the terrain to current operational areas is the reason that there has been a spike in activity in and around Nellis. I was at Nellis recently and was at a live-fire range that was designed to get Special Operations personnel trained on how to operate in the arroyos, caves and desert environment prior to deployment. very high speed and useful, as SpecOps personnel could practice everything from patrolling to downed aircrew recovery using live fire with been-there-done-that Spec Ops oversight. Suffice to say that since the military has the ability to realistically simulate the combat theater that we are currently engaged, ALOT of activity has been and will be planned to ensure the folks going in-country will have very realistic training and pre-deployment certification exercises.
