These aluminum balls, about 2 ft in diameter, sit on some of the orange poles along the border. Especially in places where the border makes a 90 degree angle. I guess they make it easier for the chopper to see the border from the air.
BTW: Contrary to common folklore they do not contain any sensors, or other high sophisticated devices. This one marks the border north of Groom Lake Road.
