I registered a copy of the program. It's probably worth $10 just for the earthquake feature. [I think the dumb image the program shows while loading was taken at the Stanford Quad. Yes, useless trivia.] The program lacks a few of the tricks in Expertgps, namely the ability to select regions on the map and download all the photos and/or topo at all scales (user selectable). This puts all the data on your HD so you don't even need an internet connection. Experpert GPS has much better windowing and control as well, plus you can see topo and image at the same time. Quakemap has a few features you don't get with Expertgps, such as the ability to download the relief maps and interface to on-line maps like Mapquest. On tracks, Quakemap shows the direction of travel, which is handy when you go up and down the same trail.

How many CDroms is the Magellan topo database? Are you getting 20ft contours on the GPS, or just the map database when viewed on your PC?
