That sounds like a likely scenario. The positions are to close together for anything much larger. BTW, I was doing a little comparison with the earlier Ikonos images (the ones posted on the FAS site a few years ago) and noticed the yellow Xs are also on the lakebed portion of the old runway. So most likely that whole strip is closed. Also, the hold positions are also on the older images, although very faint and almost un-noticeable.
