Hi Chris,
If you look to the left side of this page their is a link for Red Flag and Nellis. A popular viewing spot is Coyote Summit. Their is also a link that says Maps and GPS. The directions to Coyote summit are on the map. As well as directions to Groom Lake Rd. and the rest of the gates. As far as going alone, to my knowledge their are no tour companys that do Rachel and the area. Dont worry about it though. The last week of Flag usually draws some of us diehards to the area and we can usually be found at Coyote or at the Inn between exercises. Just bring plenty of batteries, film and an extra smart card and all will be good. If you have any further questions please post them and a trip report would be appreciated.
