My information about YF-11X designators comes from highly reliable sources and sometimes from documentation. The designators were allocated for use in UNCLASSIFIED documents. The process began with the MiG test program in the late 1960s and continued with other "black" projects. That is how the YF-117A received its designation. Numbers and letter suffixes are not allocated in any logical order. Incidentally, the YF-114C designation was used for a MiG.
