The heading to see the launch from Rachel would be about 220 degrees - looking in the area above the Back Gate as viewed from town. The bird lifted off successfully at 2:04 AM, but I didn't bother to try to watch it - the Atlas 2 is a liquid fueled bird with four small strap on solids that would have already fallen away before the bird became visible from here. Liquids don't burn nearly as brightly as solids, so it would have been pretty under-whelming to watch, even if it was faintly visible. The birds worth watching from the Rachel area are the Minuteman, the Peacekeeper, the Pegasus, the Titan 4, and the largest Delta 4 versions that use solids for all or most of the ascent.
