I don't think NASA has done a successful flight of their hypersonic Mach 7 craft, so the time table may be a bit suspect. [Image is of the last reported flight in 2001, which had to be destroyed.] When I spoke to the NASA person staffing the hypersonic display at Edwards two years ago, she mentioned the space shuttle flying at mach 25.
