It was the mockup. The X-35A/B prototype is now in the Smithsonian, and the X-35C is dismantled at either Edwards or Palmdale. Perhaps one of our Edwards or Lockheed Martin contributors can elaborate.

The mockup was done for the marketing, and the F-117, F/A-22 and F-35 show was probably more of a Lockheed Martin initiative rather that by the USAF.

BTW - the callsign for the X-35 during flight testing was 'Hatrick', meaning Lockheed Martin was looking to achieve the hatrick, or three card trick, in supplying the three stealth fighters to the USAF. Of course, it subsequently won!
