Chuck hit it right on the head. Two years ago I attempted a February climb. Iam a slow climber (read that as old and out of shape). A normal Tikaboo climb usually takes me three to four hours. I quit after four and a half hours and came down. The problem as Chuck said was the shale. It was covered with ice. Five steps forward and slide back ten steps. Iam sure some one in better climbing shape than I could tough it out, but their is also a safety factor to be considered. It would be easy to turn or break an ankle or leg under those conditions. If that happens their is no help. Minimal if any cell phone service, no medical facilities near by. If you can get down the mountain the nearest help would be in Alamo. Under those conditions its a long ways away.If you plan to do it, dont climb alone and take your time. Hope this helps
